SACHRU has an active research and evaluation program. This includes grant funded research and research and evaluation conducted in collaboration with community health services around South Australia .

As part of the core service, SACHRU staff provide advice on research and evaluation to South Australian Community and Women's Health Centres. SACHRU also provides advice to other community-based services, community groups, public hospitals, state and local government departments and interstate agencies. These agencies can receive up to one hour of advice free of charge. Beyond this, SACHRU has the discretion to charge for its services.
